Quietly achieving together
It seems oxymoronic. I've always loved the ‘Quiet Acheiver’ catchphrase from the old BP advertisements. There doesn't seem to be anything 'quiet' about naming a business after my own name. Nevertheless, what you see is what you get. Yup, I've gone out on my own.
My vision in starting my own business is to continue to connect people and grow support—something that I’ve loved doing over my 20+ year career in the community and men’s health sector. I’m doing this by offering training, facilitation and collaboration (you can find out more about these services on my website).
What's most important to me though is authenticity. I really just want to offer myself to help you get to where you want to be, to grow the connections in your life and community, and to generally ensure we are all 'part of the solution' to the many challenges we face as individuals and communities.
So, what about that Quiet Achiever. Of course, this piece of advertising was to help BP promote its offshore oil and gas ventures while making all sorts of claims about a wonderful future built on those products. What I didn't remember is that The Quiet Achiever was also one of the first long-distance solar-powered cars, also sponsored by BP. These days, electric vehicles are rapidly taking over from traditional gas and gasoline technology—and eventually, that power may well come from the sun. The way we get to that goal is through the commitment of countless everyday people, each making their own contribution to that possible future.
I think that any grand vision can only be achieved through the quiet efforts of people working in a team, workplace, or community, each doing their bit towards that vision. It's those everyday people I want to work with—because that’s how I know good things happen.
