A successful mindwalk

I ran my first Mind Walk in July – sharing a day of fresh air, reflection, and conversation with a great team from a Tasmanian community service organisation.

What a privilege it is to spend the day outside, with a small group of people, actually taking the time to practice some new ways to build resilience and mental wellbeing.

The Mind Walk provides an opportunity to download how we feel about the challenges we might be experiencing, to let go of those challenges for a few hours, and to have some positive conversations with others to build a sense of hope and possibility. 

One of the most popular activities for the walk was Measuring What Matters. Several people commented that they found it useful to take some time to stand back and reflect on the things that are important to them. Some people found that they wouldn’t choose to change very much about their current situation, but that it was helpful to have time to consciously acknowledge the positive things in their life, despite other challenges.

Mind Walk works for individuals or small teams. If you are looking for a positive and structured way to take a mental health day out, there are places available on the next open Mind Walk activity, coming up on Friday 23 September.

The whole experience was very well thought out and each activity seamlessly built upon the next. The Measuring What Matters activity, and the use of the continuum was really beneficial, as well as the Gratitude Walk and the Generosity Walk! It was all great. The notion of moving throughout the day provided a different approach to processing the mental stuff, which I really enjoyed.
